Cavite State University (CvSU) representatives joined the CALABARZON Gender and Development Resource Pool (CGRP) Deepening Session on October 14-15, 2024, in General Trias City, Cavite.
Organized by the CALABARZON Regional Development Council’s Gender and Development Committee, the session aimed to enhance the technical skills of CGRP members in supporting gender and development (GAD) initiatives.
Attendees from CvSU included Ms. Raecel A. Estebat, Head of the Training and Courseware Development Division of Extension Services; Mr. King David J. Agreda, faculty member from the Cavite City Campus; and Ms. Evelyn F. Grueso, faculty member from the College of Education.
During the two-day session, experts discussed key tools and frameworks like the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), the Gender-Responsive Local Government Unit (GeRL) Assessment Tool, the GAD Focal Point System Functionality Assessment Tool, and the Localization of the Magna Carta of Women. These sessions focused on promoting women’s rights, enhancing GAD responsiveness in local government, and assessing the effectiveness of GAD initiatives.
The event concluded with participants renewing their commitment to advancing gender equality in the region. The session equipped CvSU representatives and other GAD practitioners with valuable knowledge and tools to champion gender-responsive policies and initiatives in CALABARZON.
